Topic
Parental Participation in Inclusive School Development Processes
Abstract
This PhD project aims to analyse parental participation in inclusive school development processes at Berlin primary schools. Using a qualitative approach, the parents‘ point of view, as well as the school’s perspective on parental participation will be taken into account. On one hand, the research interest concerns the question of how parents are specifically involved in school development processes, and on what levels this participation takes place. On the other hand, also the spectrum of (mutual) expectations, interests and attitudes towards parental participation are of particular significance for the research project. The data will be collected through open guideline interviews with parents, as well as expert interviews with head teachers of four to six Berlin primary schools and then analysed using the Documentary Method.
