A pre-conference for graduate-students, focused on the theme “Matching research questions and methods” will be organized on September 3 starting at 9 o’clock in the morning. The pre-conference is based on workshops lead by leading professors from different parts of the world within the area of adult learning. The aim is to create a space for graduate-students to problematize and discuss important issues related to the practice of doing a PhD/EdD. Subthemes will be:

  • Critical reading of existing studies, connecting to research approaches of other researchers
  • Presentation of selected qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Steps within a research processes

Participants will be asked to read some articles and to hand-in at least a very first draft version of their research project

As this is a workshop based pre-conference, there will be no room for paper presentations. However, we would like to encourage graduate-students to submit abstracts to the main conference no later than January 15, 2013 as outlined previously in this call for papers.

The pre-conference is free of charge.
