Subject didactic Inclusionary Qualification of Prospective Teachers at Humboldt University of Berlin (FQID-HU)

Funding

The project is part of the "Qualitätsoffensive Lehrerbildung", a joint initiative of the Federal Government and the Länder which aims to improve the quality of teacher training. The program is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Description

One key element of the project is to develop university courses on the basis of didactic and heterogeneity-sensitive models, and test them in tandem. In order to achieve this, a number of doctoral and post-doctoral positions were established alongside collaborative efforts with employees with school-based practical experience. These positions are partly connected to developmental projects that already exist, or newly established work units in the department of primary education, specialist disciplines and rehabilitation science. They are linked together and sustained under the umbrella of the main institute at Humboldt University of Berlin, the Professional School of Education (PSE), as a network by the name of FDQI-HU.

An online platform set up by the project helps to document newly developed models as well as their effectiveness assessment regarding relevant competency developments and self-efficacy credentials of the students. Publication of theses that are grounded in this project is another effective way to disseminate results. In addition, FDQI-HU is able to draw on comprehensive preparatory work and a broad scientific expertise of the actors at Humboldt University and beyond.

The development of teaching-learning formats in higher education in the FDQI-HU project is carried out as follows:

  • Previously developed teaching-learning formats in joint seminars serve as examples for the first phase of the project.
  • Previously involved actors are integrated into the project.
  • The ongoing documentation of the project is carried out on the online platform via the PSE’s Post-Doc position as well as within a thesis project.
  • Interim results of the project as well as further developments are regularly discussed at conferences.
