Learning and teaching in the age of digital media and artificial intelligence.

Digital technologies and artificial intelligence are changing the way we learn, teach, and generate knowledge. In the field of media education in schools and higher education, we conduct research on the potential and challenges of digitally-driven learning environments—with a particular focus on the reflective and responsible integration of AI in educational contexts. Our goal is to support teachers and learners in not only using digital technologies, but also critically questioning them.

  • How does AI influence our decision-making?
  • What role do digital media play in the handling of knowledge?
  • How can education contribute to promoting digital literacy and democratic participation?

These questions are not only relevant from an educational perspective, but also need to be considered from an interdisciplinary angle—with references to psychology, computer science, ethics, and the social sciences. In the working group, we therefore place great importance on exchange between disciplines and stakeholders. Only by working together can we develop innovative and sustainable concepts for the education of the future.

  • Collaborative learning and argumentation in the digital realm
  • Acquisition and application of skills in digitally-oriented settings (e.g., AI-related skills, information literacy, reflective thinking, critical thinking)
