Between Wish and Reality. The School-Work Transition of Special Needs Students

Abstract

The ways of students after school in training, work or transitional measures can be understood only very vague with the help of existing statistics, there is hardly any current research on successful or inhibiting factors. The research gap was identified with this qualitative study and initial results show that further quantitative research is urgently needed. In an explorative multi-perspective study, the question was pursued as to how the career aspiration for students arises (identity) and how they can implement this (participation). Furthermore, the students (and their parents, as well as the teaching staff) were asked about the factors and barriers that they (possibly) experienced during the transition.
