KoKoHs I

Coordination department for the funding scheme “Modeling and Measuring Competencies in Higher Education (KoKoHs)”

Funding

The project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Description

The tertiary sector in education represents an educational space that has not received adequate attention despite growing societal importance in national and international education research. In order to fill this research gap and become globally connected, the BMBF launched the funding scheme for “Modelling and Measuring Competencies in Higher Education” (KoKoHs) in 2011. KoKoHs was expected to lay the ground, and provide important impulses for fundamental competency research in the tertiary sector. In this context, research projects were initiated that focused on modelling and measuring academically relevant generic competencies, as well as domain-specific skills and knowledge. For coordination purposes of these projects and the program as such the coordination department was established in Berlin and Mainz. Major responsibilities included the systematic facilitation of knowledge transfers and networking among the various locations and projects. Further, the coordination department kept in touch with international partners and promoted scientific offspring.
