WiWiSET

Validation of an Entrance Examination in the Study Domain of Business and Economics – A National and International Comparative Study of Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences

Description

The WiWiSET project’s goal is to identify factors that predict success or failure when it comes to completing a degree in the domain of economics. Validity of measuring instruments is at the core of this study. In addition to previous validation work, WiWiSET now focuses on perspectives of discriminant, predictive and incremental validity. All freshmen in the study domain of economics, which is the largest study domain in Germany, at schools of tertiary education serve as the project’s population. During a first survey in the winter semester of 2016/2017, economics freshmen at randomly selected universities and universities of applied science were surveyed with regard to their economic knowledge (N=3.977, 1.502 at 20 universities, 2.475 at 21 universities of applied science,). A second survey will be administered in the winter semester 2017/18 as the project requires two measure dates in order to test its hypotheses.
